AIR's Talent Hunt Program "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" on 05-01-2022

Baba Farid Group of Institutions, in association with All India Radio, FM Bathinda, organized auditions for Radio Jockey under AIR's Talent Hunt Program as a part of the "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav", to celebrate India‘s 75th year of independence on 05.01.2022. Mr. Mandeep Rajora (Transmission Executive, All India Radio, Bathinda) & Ms. Mamta Arora (Announcer, All India Radio, Bathinda) on behalf of All India Radio, Bathinda were the judges for the event.

The audition gave an opportunity to young minds for auditions of RJ in wherein Students from various departments participated with great enthusiasm. The event was managed by Ms. Neetu Singh (Dean Faculty of Management & Commerce) and Mr. Parmpal Singh (Head, Department of Tourism). The event was hosted by Mr. Sourav Sharma (Asst. Prof. in Tourism). In addition to this, Ms. Pavneet Kaur (Head, Department of Management) was also present along with Mr. Sukhmander Singh (Asst. Prof. in Commerce) for their judgment. Mr. Mandeep & Ms. Mamta were welcomed by the higher authorities from Baba Farid College which included Mr. Sachin Dev (Principal, Baba Farid College of Management & Technology) & Ms. Neetu Singh.

Keeping the current pandemic situation in check, the event started with an introductory session for the students in which they were asked some general questions regarding their career, hobbies & interests. The students participated with great zeal and showcased their inner potential. The protocols provided by the government were followed during the same.

The participants were then called for their performances at once in which they had to speak on one of the topics that were earlier provided to them by AIR, Bathinda. The language was no bar for the event which resulted in students from various departments & parts of the country participating in the event with enthusiasm.

The panel judged the students based on various parameters such as modulation, pronunciation, fluency etc. Out of all, Miss Shobha from B.Com 5th Semester, Department of Commerce, Baba Farid College was adjudged the best and was selected as a Radio Jockey & was called upon for Training and Recording for AIR, FM Bathinda which was held on 09.01.2022.

Atlast, Ms. Neetu Singh, on behalf of Baba Farid Group of Institutions, Bathinda, proposed a formal vote of thanks to All India Radio along with Mr. Mandeep & Ms. Mamta for their valuable time and efforts for conducting the auditions in the campus.

Extempore Competition on 01 November, 2021

Department of Tourism organized an "Extempore Competition" on 01.11.2021 to provide the students a platform to express their opinions on a spontaneous topic.

The activity had numerous participants from various departments of Baba Farid College. The judgement for the activity was done by Mr. Bunty Ram (Head, Department of English and Geography).

The winners were declared by judging on the basis of the their fluency, communication skills and their content.

Top three were declared winners were as follows:
1. Bharat Bhusan
2. Jagdeep Singh
3. Ruhi/Mehakpreet Kaur

Overall, the activity was successful in bringing out the student's ideas and their linguistic skills. Mr. Bunty Ram along with Activity Coordinator Mr. Sourav Sharma (Asst. Professor, Department of Tourism) declared the winners and also shared his verdict on their overall performances. He provided the winners with prizes and clicked the pictures with them. Department of Tourism congratulates the winners and thank Mr. Bunty Ram for his valuable time and minute judgement for the activity.

Seminar on Career Guidance on 11 November 2021

In order to ensure students' orientation towards their future, Department of Management in collaboration with Career Guidance and Counseling Cell, Baba Farid College organized a career guidance session for BBA & BTTM final year students on 11th November 2021 in main seminar hall. The main agenda of the session was to give an in-depth detail of the career opportunities for the management students after they complete their formal education. The expert for the session was Mr. B.D Sharma, Deputy Director, Career Guidance and Counseling Cell of Baba Farid Group of Institutions.

On behalf of the department, Ms. Vartika student of BBA 5th Sem welcomed the guest speaker and other dignitaries. In his address,Mr. Sharma thoroughly explained about the career opportunities and skill-oriented courses to the students. Furthermore, he highlighted on the corporate jobs for the prospective graduates. He motivated students to focus on their inner strength and he made them realize that the success depends upon hard work not on destiny. The students can definitely brighten their future with their hard and smart work. He supported his address with real life examples and anecdotes which helped the students to relate more with his talk. He clearly laid huge emphasis on positive attitude in work place culture and also in life, in general.

Ms. Neetu Singh, Dean (Faculty of Management and Commerce) proposed a formal vote of thanks. Followed by, Ms. Pavneet Kaur, Head of the Department who accolade the organizers of the event for its success.

Department of Tourism organized Donation to Shri Ram Chander Old Age Home in Bathinda

In order to cultivate the values of social responsibilities among the students, Department of Tourism organized a noble cause for donation to Shri Ram Chander Old Age Home in Bathinda. Students and Faculty members from Baba Farid College donated money to buy blankets, sweets and biscuits for the needy.

The Department as a whole, contributed to the social welfare to help the foundation and thanked the students of BTTM who didn't only donated themselves but also collected from various departments of Baba Farid College with great enthusiasm and zeal.

Ms. Neetu Singh (Dean, Faculty of Management & Commerce) & Mr. Parampal Singh, (Head, Department of Tourism) proposed a formal vote of thanks to the students & faculties for their heartiest contribution to the cause. Mr. Jaspal Jassi, Secretary, Shri Ram Chander Trust was obliged to the team for their noble efforts.

Freshers party "Hola Juniors" on 07.10.2021

Continuing with the proud tradition of welcoming new students at Baba Farid College, the senior students along with the new students mingled at the freshers party "Hola Juniors" held on 07.10.2021 organized by the Departments of Tourism & Management.

The event was graced by Higher Authorities which included Mr. Pardeep Kaura (Deputy Director, Academics) & Mr Sachin Dev (Principal, BFCMT) and HODs' of various departments & the judgement was done by Miss Jyoti (Asst. Professor in Agriculture) & Mr. Gourav (Asst. Professor in Agriculture) from the Department of Agriculture.

It was a fun filled event where the new students got a chance to showcase their talent. The event was full of enthusiasm and thrill. The programme started with a warm welcome by the hosts for the evening along with a traditional welcome at the entrance of the venue. The extravaganza went underway with a power packed dance performance by Anupam Bharti which enthralled the audiences. Then, the audience was introduced to the judges of the evening & the higher authorities.

They were welcomed and presented with a token of appreciation by the organizing members from both the departments. To lift the energies of the audiences, the event consisted of Modelling by the students in pairs. It consisted of three rounds. The 1st one was "Ramp Walk" in couple's chosen attire based on which they were shortlisted for the 2nd round for "talent show" in which they had the freedom to showcase their talent to the audiences and judges. The 3rd and final round had candidates answer to the judge's questions.

Along with the modelling, the stage was set on fire by the talented students through their dance performances and singing. The audiences and the Faculties from various departments were mesmerized by the performances.

In the meantime, finalists were announced from the 2nd Round of Modelling; the last round of questions and answers followed. It was an amazing sight to see the freshers answering the questions using their wit.

Finally, the most awaited time of the evening was there, judges were invited to declare the results. Kamal Kumar & Harmanjot Kaur from Department of Tourism were crowned Mr. & Miss Fresher respectively. From the Department of Management, the winners were Gourav & Ishika Soni for the titles of Mr. & Miss Fresher. From both the departments overall, Sonia & Chashpinder Singh were awarded with the titles of Mr. Handsome and Miss Charming respectively. Ms. Neetu Singh (Dean Faculty of Management and Commerce), along with the judges & Faculties from the Departments clicked the pictures with the winners of the event.

It was a mesmerizing evening, which ended up with a wonderful blend of different foot tapping numbers. Students enjoyed at the dance floor and were also seen around the stalls arranged for snacks and refreshments. It was an amazing and a refreshing evening for the welcome of the new batches of B.T.T.M & B.B.A. The event's grand success was the result of the teamwork by all the Faculty members and students from Department of Management & Department of Tourism.

World Tourism Day-21

To mark the occasion of "World Tourism Day-21" Department of Tourism in collaboration with Tourism Club organized celebrations for the same on 29.09.2021.

The event started with warm welcome of all the higher authorities, Judges and Faculty members. A lightening ceremony was done by Mr. B.D Sharma (Deputy Director - Activities) and Ms. Neetu Singh (Dean Faculty of Management and Commerce) along with other faculties from Department of Tourism to mark the commencement.

The event was graced by Higher Authorities and HODs' of various departments & the judgement was done by Miss Amrit Taggar (Asst. Professor in English) & Mr. Arshdeep Kalsi (Assistant Professor) from Mechanical Department. 

The theme of the event was to celebrate numerous cultures so the highlight of the event was "Culture Based Modelling" which was consisted of three rounds. The 1st one was "Ramp Walk" in candidate's chosen attire based on which they were shortlisted for the 2nd round for "talent show" in which they had the freedom to showcase their talent to the audiences and judges. The 3rd and final round had candidates answer to the judge's questions.

In addition to that, there were Participants in Poster Making, Singing, Dancing and Skit. The winners were awarded with trophies by higher authorities, Judges and Faculties from Tourism department pictures were clicked to seize the moments.

The winners were: Miss Veerpal Kaur (Star Performer - Dancing), Miss Akashdeep Kaur (Miss Tourism) Mr. Prabhdeep Singh (Mr. Tourism), Miss Ruhi Mehta (Best Poster), Students of B.T.T.M 4th Sem (Best Skit), Mr. Simran Gocha (Star Performer - Singing).

All in all, the event was a huge success and will be cherished for a long time. Mr. Parmpal Singh (Head, Department of Tourism) extended a token of gratitude of  thanks to all the Faculties, Higher Authorities and Judges Miss Amrit Taggar & Mr. Arshdeep Kalsi.

The extravaganza ended with Dean Ms. Neetu Singh, BD Sharma appreciating organizing committee member Mr. Sourav Sharma & students of B.T.T.M for their sincere efforts to pull off a successful event.

Online Alumni Meet on 10th September, 2021

To bring back the nostalgia, Department of Tourism in collaboration with the Baba Farid College Bathinda Alumni Association, hosted an Online Alumni Meet via Microsoft Teams on 10th of September, 2021. A huge number of the department's pass-out students of B.T.T.M gathered to share their memories of their college graduation and post-graduate years.

Ms. Neetu Singh, Dean (Faculty of Management and Commerce) proposed a formal welcome address. She really appreciated the over-whelming response of the students for the meet.

Mr. Parmpal Singh, Head of the Department highlighted the achievements of the department for the past few years. Mr. Sourav Sharma & Ms. Jashanpreet Kaur were the hosts for the event.

There were a lot of fun games and guest performances as well. Since, the event was organized online which gave an easy window to the alumni to connect easily from their work places from different parts of the world.

The Alumni shared their amazing memories with all. Such alumni meets really helps to strengthen the bond between the college and the pass-out students. Finally, Ms. Neetu Singh presented a formal vote of thanks and he also gave his best wishes to the students. Over all, the event was fruitful where in everyone enjoyed a lot.

Virtual Celebrations on the occasion of National Tourism Day

National Tourism Day is celebrated on January 25th every year across the country. This day is observed by the government to encourage tourism and to explain the essential role of tourism in the growth of the country.

To celebrate the occasion, Department of Tourism organized a Virtual Expert Lecture on 25th Jan, 2021 on Microsoft Teams for the students of B.T.T.M under the theme of "Dekho Apna Desh". The name of the Resource Person was Miss Kamakshi Sharma, Research Scholar from IIT Delhi.

The session started with extension of warm welcome presented to Miss Kamakshi Sharma from Mr. Sourav Sharma (Assistant Professor, Department of Tourism). Afterwards, She was introduced to Mr. Parmpal Singh, (Head, Department of Tourism) & all the students that were present for the session.
Miss Kamakshi guided the students with her wealth of experience and knowledge on Domestic Tourism in India & motivated them to travel throughout the country. She also shared deep insights on Medical Tourism, a vastly growing form of tourism in India. In addition to this, she also guided the students about the latest trends in the industry.

Since it was the occasion of national heritage & culture, she put emphasis on the products that travel companies offer to enhance the experience of domestic travelers in the country. In addition to that, she also shared personal experiences in relation to her visits in different parts of the country. Along with the Session, a quiz Competition was also organized & Students of B.T.T.M took part with same passion & zeal.

Students were very enthusiastic & participative during the whole lecture as they shared their views and also asked queries related to travel & tourism.

Finally, Miss Kamakshi Sharma concluded the whole session with a video showcasing the dynamics of Domestic Toursim . A vote of thanks was given to her by Mr. Parmpal Singh along with the faculties from Department of Tourism.

Career Guidance Session on "Emerging Trends in Tourism in India & Career Opportunities"

For an educational institute, Career guidance sessions are one of the crucial elements for the successful career of its students. With the motive to provide our students with an opportunity to enhance the knowledge and gain career guidance, the Department of Tourism in collaboration with Alumni Association, Baba Farid College had organized Career guidance session on "Emerging Trends in Tourism in India & Career Opportunities" online using the Microsoft Teams on 21st of February 2021.

The Session was addressed by Mr. Karan Wehgal who is Assistant Manager, Shipra Travel, Panchkula. The session was attended by all the students of BTTM where they raised queries and got an idea about the numerous career opportunities in Tourism.

Mr. Karan Wehhal started the session by describing the importance and benefits of internships in Tourism, Aviation & Hospitality Industry. He explained the reasons why to pursue a career in the same field and explained the role of persistence in growth. At the last there was query session where students clarified their doubts.

The event was successful as all the students participated in the event with enthusiasm and interacted well with Mr. Karan Wehgal over the online platform. The session was ended with vote of thanks to Mr. Karan Wehgal by the faculty and head, Department of Tourism, Baba Farid College.

Elocution Competition on 05.03.2021

To inculcate the importance among students for idea and practice of effective speech and its forms., the Department of Tourism in collaboration with the Cultural Club, Baba Farid College Bathinda organized an inter-departmental "Elocution Competition" on 05.03.2021.

The students participated with great enthusiasm. They showcased their linguistic skills significantly highlighting the important message through their words. Mr Parmpal Singh, Head of the department welcomed all the participants and wished them good luck.

The judgment of the event was done by Miss Amrit Taggar, Assistant Professor of `English. Winners of the event were Manpreet Kaur from B.Com sem 4th and Kamalpreet Kaur from B.T.T.M Sem 6th.

Mr. Parminder Singh, Dean Student Welfare, honored and felicitated the winners and motivated them to continue participating in the upcoming events as well.

ATHLETIC MEET 2018

‘ATHLETIC MEET 2018 ‘was organised by the college and students actively participated in this event. The importance of sports and games in college encompasses more than just the benefit of physical activity. Increases in self-esteem and mental alertness make sports and games necessary for every college age child. Itenhances the students life skills like teamwork, leadership, patience.

Glimpses of the Farewell Party 2017

"Fare thee well, and if forever, still forever fare thee well."

"It's hard to say goodbye for good at any time or any place. It's harder still to say it through a meshed wire." Baba Farid College organized a farewell party "SAYONARA-17" for #ATHM Final Year students to pay their regards and good luck. The students presented a cultural bonanza of songs, dances and other items on the occasion to entertain their seniors.

The Departments Bachelors of Travel & Tourism Management organised Expert Talk on ‘The Tourism and job opportunities ‘lead by Person Mr. Ajay Goel, He enthralled the students by sharing great knowledge about Tourism & Hospitality Industry. He is the director of ‘PAAR HOLIDAYS CLUB, DELHI. All Students actively participated in this thought provoking session. He motivated to the students to give their best in studies and quoted to do internships with hardworking nature to be career oriented.

Baba Farid College celebrated its farewell party "Sayonara -15" as the 2012-15 batch of its BBA and BSc.ATHM students were ready for adieu. It was an occasion for the outgoing students to look back at the time that they spent in the lawns of Campus and the professional education that they acquired during the period.

World Tourism Day

Competence in every field is very important for achieving higher goals, We need to be committed to our values in realistic manners, The Students of B.Sc Airlines, Tourism & Hospitality Management (ATHM) of Baba Farid College (BFC), Celebrated World Tourism Day in Campus. They planned activity to play on same day; they organized canopies to sell the Domestic & International Tour Packages for the BFGI campus. Two prestigious tourism companies Supported them to make this event successful i.e. Thomas Cook & Cox & kings. Managing Director Dr. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal did inauguration Ceremony along with the different dignitaries members of BFGI & then they visited at all the canopies & inquired from students about different tour packages. There were conducted presentation sessions also on the particular topics 'Tourism'. All semesters of B.sc ATHM's students participated in same activity.
