One Day Educational Trip to Central University of Punjab, Bathinda

A one day educational trip was organized by Department of Biotechnology and Medical Sciences, Baba Farid College for B.Sc. Biotech IIIrd year students on 25 october 2018. Students made visit to Central University of Punjab, Bathinda under the guidance of Ms. Shivangi Saxena (Assist. Prof. Biotech) and Dr. Parkash Singh (Assist. Prof. Zoology). The main objective for this trip was to acquaint the knowledge of students with various instruments related to biotechnology. The bus boarded at 10:00 a.m. and arrived at the university at 10:30 a.m. There was so much excitement among the students as they visited various labs. The students visited animal tissue culture lab, plant tissue culture lab, animal sciences lab, plant sciences lab. Students were made aware of instruments like HPLC, Gas Chromatography, Atomic absorption spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope, Fluoroscent microscope, Flow cytometer etc. Dr. Monisha Dhiman gave an inspirational lecture to students and guided about various career oppurtunities after graduation. Throughout the trip students were found very excited and visit came to end at 2.00 pm. The overall experience was very knowledgeable and full of excitement.
One day educational trip to Verka Milk Plant, Bathinda

A one day educational trip to Verka Milk Plant, Bathinda was organized by Department of Biotechnology and Medical Sciences, Baba Farid College, for Biotechnology I Semester students on 21 September, 2018 under the guidance of Dr. Parkash Singh (Assist. Prof. Zoology) and Ms. Pallavi Arora (Assist. Prof. Biotechnology). The bus boarded at 10:00 a.m. and arrived at the Verka Plant at 11:00 a.m. There was so much excitement among the students as they were provided with practical exposure to various Industrial as well as Laboratory scale Instruments, manufacturing process, quality assurance, quality control, milk freezing unit, homogenizer unit, churning & packing processes, milk powder preparation etc. . The students were benefited in terms of the technical details provided by the verka milk plant In-charge. The students got familiar about the production, maintenance, testing of milk, management, distribution and marketing. Visit seemed to be very informative and gave good learning experience. The students put a great impression on the staff of verka by asking several technical and scientific details about the various Instruments used in the plant. Throughout the trip students were found very curious. It is a unique way to give practical exposure to education. The overall experience was very knowledgeable and full of excitement.

A one day educational trip to Bir Talab Zoo, Bathinda was organized by Department of Biotechnology and Medical Sciences, Baba Farid College for Medical I Semester students on 31 August, 2018 under the guidance of Dr. Parkash Singh (Assist. Prof. Zoology) and Ms. Shally Jain (Assist. Prof. Botany). The main objective of this trip was to promote awareness of endangered species. The students did sightseeing around the zoo. The bus boarded at 10:00 a.m. and arrived at the zoo at 10:00 a.m. There was so much excitement among the students as they encountered many animals like Porcupine, Monkey, many species of Deer like Sambar, Black buck (a rare species of deer),Leopard, Hog Deer, Spotted Deer and birds like Pigeons, Chakor, Crane, Saras, Parakeets Peacock and Ostrich. The students did deer safari which was a very pleasant and unforgettable experience. Students not only watched animals and birds they also observed various trees like Amaltas, Bamboo, Shisham, Teak and Khair. Students after visiting the zoo students relaxed in zoo canteen where they had some cold drinks and ice creams and snacks. They also visited Gurudwara Hajiratan at Bathinda. Then bus departure from zoo and reached to college about 2:00 p.m. The overall experience was very knowledgeable and full of excitement.
One Day Clinical Visit at Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (AIMSR)

One day Clinical laboratories visit at Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (AIMSR), Bathinda was organized by Baba Farid’s Society of Medical & Biotechnology Students, Department of Biotechnology and Medical Sciences, Baba Farid College for Medical II year students on 9th March, 2018. The main objective for this trip was to enhance their knowledge in their clinical techniques and process. The students visited various Medical Clinical laboratories at the institute including Histopathology, Biochemistry, Virology, Bacteriology, Haematology and Immunology. The bus boarded at 10:05 a.m. and arrived at the Institute at 10:35 a.m. There students learned about techniques of section cutting by micortome, fixing and staining of Animal Tissue. They also studied patient’s sample collection and Transportation and processing in Medical Labs. Students not only learned various techniques of biochemistry but also enhanced their knowledge in various subjects . After visiting the Clinical Labs at Adesh they also got an opportunity to see working of blood bank. Then before leaving for college, students had some snacks at a nearby restaurant and bus departure from Adesh Institute at 2:30pm and reached to college at 3:00 pm. The overall experience was very knowledgeable as students cleared their queries from experts thereby.
R & D Visit of B.Sc. Biotechnology and Medical Students at School of Agricultural Biotechnology, PAU, Ludhiana on Wednesday 7 March, 2018

Baba Farid’s Society of Medical & Biotechnology students, Department of Biotechnology and Medical Sciences, BFCorganized a visit at Research & Development Laboratories of School of Agricultural Biotechnology, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. The Visit was organized by the students of B.Sc. Biotechnology IVth and VIth Semesters i.e. Ms. Amandeep Kaur, Ms. Palakpreet Kaur, Ms. Sarabjot Kaur & Mr. Jaipreet(B.Sc. Biotechnology VIth Year) and Ms Muskaan, Ms. Prabhjot Kaur(B.Sc. Biotechnology IVth Year).The bus boarded at 7:30 am and arrived at the university at 10:30am. It was a great opportunity for the students that they got a chance to visit Plant Tissue Culture labs and Plant Genome Sequencing labs where a lot of new technologies, tools were shown to them along with an expert lecture by Dr. AjinderKaur, (Associate Professor of Biotechnology). She gave demonstration of various techniques and instruments of Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory to students. The students also got an opportunity to clear their queries from Dr. AjinderKaur. The session was very interactive as students put various questions to the expert. The lunch was in Parker House in the university. Students also visited mushroom farms and Museum of Social History of Rural Punjab and learned a lot from this educational trip as they shared their experiences with the staff members of the faculty.
Educational Tour of B.Sc. Medical 3rd year to School of Agricultural Biotechnology, PAU, Ludhiana on 24th October, 2017

Department of Biotechnology and Medical Sciences students Ramandeep Kaur, Sumandeep Kaur, Manpreet Singh, Jitender Singh and Parampal Singh(BSc Medical 3rd Year) under the guidance of Ms. Gaganpreet Kaur and Dr. Parkash Singh had organized an educational tour to School of Agricultural Biotechnology, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana for the students of B.Sc. Medical 3rd year. The faculty of the Department Biotechnology and Medical Sciences, Ms. Gaganpreet Kaur and Dr. Parkash Singh accompanied the students to this one day Excursion Trip. It was a great opportunity for the students that they got a chance to visit Plant Tissue Culture labs and Plant Genome Sequencing labs where a lot of new technologies, tools were shown to them with an expert lecture by Dr. Parveen Kumar Malhotra, (Assistant Biotechnologist). Prof. Zoology) and Prof. Satwinder Kaur (Assist. Prof. Biotechnology). The main objective for this trip was to promote awareness of endangered species. The students did sightseeing around the zoo. The bus boarded at 09:40 a.m. and arrived at the zoo at 10:00 a.m. There was so much excitement among the students as they encountered many animals like Porcupine, Monkey, Many species of Deer like Sambar, Black buck (a rare species of deer),Leopard, Hog Deer, Spotted Deer and Birds like Pigeons, Chakor, Crane, Saras, Parakeets Peacock and Ostrich. The students did deer safari which was a very pleasant and unforgettable experience. Students not only watched animals and birds they also observed various trees like Amaltas, Bamboo, Shisham, Teak and Khair. Students after visiting the zoo students relaxed in zoo canteen where they had some cold drinks and ice creams and snacks. Then bus departure from zoo and reached to college at 01:15 pm. A Recreational Tour to Manali
The world is a book and those who don't travel read only one page"-St. Augustine. The above saying emphasizes the relevance of travelling. If we never go anywhere we will have a limited view of this beautiful world. Nowdays, education is not viewed as only study centric, but it is regarded as something which could help in overall development of the students. The relevance of such trips increases when students of Biotechnology and Medical are concerned. Baba Farid College is always ready to offer exclusive opportunities to the students of its unique course named B.Sc Biotechnology and B.Sc Medical. Recently '3 nights-4 days' trip was organized for Biotechnology and Medical to Manali, Manikaran, Kullu and Routang from 7.10.2016 to 11.10.2016. Students visited Solang valley, club house, Himachal Museum, Nature Park, Hadimba Temple there. On entire tour, students were full of excitement, disciplined and well mannered. Tour was a wonderful and full of fun.
Visit to Science City and Wonderland
A one day educational trip was organized by Department of Biotechnology and Medical, Baba Farid College for Medical Ist year students on 01.10.2016. A total of 42 Students made a visit to Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala under the supervision of Dr. Ritu Pawan (Assist. Prof. Biotech), Dr. Prakash (Assist. Prof. Medical), Dr. Shubhpriya Gupta (Assist. Prof. Medical) along with Mr. Jagsir Singh (Lab Assistant). The bus reached the spot at 11:30 a.m. There was so much excitement among the students regarding the visit. Students visited to dome theatre, digital planetarium, laser show, climate change theatre, flight simulator, earth quake simulator and science city galleries. After visiting science city students visited Wonderland, Jalandhar. Students had great fun in wonderland. The visit came to an end at 09:00pm. The overall experience was very knowledgeable and was filled with excitement.

Educational Visit to Verka Milk Plant
Department of Biotechnology and Medical, Baba Farid College has organized a trip to Verka Milk Plant, Bathinda on 30/09/2016 for B.Sc Biotechnology III Semester students under the supervision of Prof. Pankaj Nagpal and Prof Rupinder Kaur. Total 54 students visited the milk plant. Educational trip to Chatbir ZOO (B.Sc. Medical II year)
A one day educational trip was organized by Department of Biotechnology and Medical, Baba Farid College for BSc Medical (SemIII) students on dated 24/9/2016. A total of 36 Students made a visit to Mahendra Choudhary Chatbir Zoo, Zirkpur, Patiala under the guidance of Dr. Prakash Singh (Assist. Prof. Medical), Prof. Rupinderjeet Kaur (Assist. Prof. Biotech) and Mr. Jagsir Singh (Lab Assist.). The main objective for this trip was to promote awareness of endangered animals in the wild. The students did sightseeing around the zoo. The bus boarded at 6:00 a.m. and arrived at the zoo at 11 a.m. The students toured around the zoo for about 2-3 hours. They encountered many animals like Lion, Elephant, Deer and Reptiles. Noctural House (Porkupine, Owl) and Reptiles (Snakes) section was so interacting for the students. It's was such a worth sightseeing as students were excited to see the animals which they do not see in day today life. After that, the bus departured from zoo at 3.00 p.m. to Gurdwara Parmeshwar Dwar Shekapur, Patiala. The students were taken to the prayer hall, after first covering their heads with head coverings, removing shoes and washing hands. The students along with their teacher’s sat in the prayer hall where ceremonial reader seated with the holy book, Guru Granth Sahib, was doing prayer. The atmosphere was devotional and blissful everywhere. Then they had langar in the Gurdwara, which everybody enjoyed. After the Gurdwara visit the bus took departure at 5.00 p.m. and all reached to their destinations by 09:00 p.m. The overall trip was successful as students enjoyed the wildlife at zoo and feel devotional at Gurdwara.

Training by Biotechnology Students to Gadvasu and Cri Kasauli
20 Students of B.Sc Biotechnology 1st and 2nd Year went for training to GADVASU, Ludhiana and CRI Kasauli for period of 1 month from 1.07.2017 to 30.07.2016. During the training period they learned the microbiological techniques like Isolation, Screening and Identification of microbes, biochemical testing, enzyme purification, vaccine development, quality assurance, water utility, antiserum techniques etc. Along with these techniques they were also given with classroom teaching. On completion of training they were given certificate.

A total of 35 Students made a visit to Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala under the supervision of Dr. Prakash (Assist. Prof. Medical), Ms.Komal Gupta (Assist. Prof. Biotech), Ms.Shivangi Saxena (Assist. Prof. Biotech). The bus reached the spot at 11:30 a.m. There was so much excitement among the students regarding the visit. Students were made a visit to dome theatre film, digital planetarium show, laser show, climate change theatre, flight simulator, earth quake simulator, science city galleries. After visiting science city students were visited to Wonderland, Jalandhar. Students had great fun in wonderland. The visit came to end at 7:00 pm. The overall experience was very knowledgeable and full of excitement.

VISIT TO HARIKE
A one day educational trip was organized by Department of Biotechnology and Medical, Baba Farid College for Medical 2nd year students on 18.2.2016. A total of 38 Students made a visit to Harike wetland, Tarantarn under the guidance of Dr. Subhpriya Gupta (Assist. Prof. Medical ) and Dr. Prakash (Assist. Prof. Medical). The main objective for this trip was to acquaint the knowledge of students with flora and fauna. The bus boarded at 11:30a.m. There was so much excitement among the students regarding the visit. Students were made a visit to wild life sanctuary. Students got aware of different migratory birds there. The visit came to end at 3:00pm. The overall experience was very knowledgeable and full of excitement.

ONE DAY EDUCATIONAL TRIPTO CENTRAL UNIVERSITY OF PUNJAB, BHATHINDA
A one day educational trip was organized by Department of Biotechnology and Medical, Baba Farid College for B.Sc. Biotech IIIrd year students on 17 February 2016. A total of 54 Students made visit to Central University of Punjab, Bhathinda under the guidance of Ms. Komal Gupta (Assist. Prof. Biotech) and Prof. Pankaj Nagpal (Assist. Prof. Biotech). The main objective for this trip was to acquaint the knowledge of students with various instruments related to biotechnology. The bus boarded at 10:00 a.m. and arrived at the university at 10:20 a.m. There was so much excitement among the students as they were visitedvarious labs. The students were visited animal tissue culture lab, plant tissue culture lab, animal sciences lab, plant sciences lab. TOUR TO RAJASTHAN
Department of Biotechnology and Medical has organized a tour from 18.02.2016 (Evening) to 22.02.2016 (Morning) to Rajasthan for B.Sc Biotechnology Ist , IInd and IIIrd year students. The tour was organized by Head of Department, Dr Ritu Pawan. Around 43 students visited under the supervision of Dr Ritu Pawan, Dr Parkash, Ms. Komal Gupta, Ms. Arash Kumari. Bus departured at 7:00 pm on 18.2.2016 from college campus and reached to Mount Abu next day at around 1:00 pm. Students along with faculty members stayed at “Florence” hotel there. Students were visited Sun set point, Brahma kumari ashram,Nakki lake, Dilwada Jain temple there. Next day bus left for Udaipur. In Udaipur students were visited Sahelion ki bari, Fateh Sagar lake, Art and Craft Museum, Universal Harmony Hall. In Fateh Sagar lake, students enjoyed boating. Next day students were visited Ajmer and Pushkar. Students were visited Ajmer Sharif Dargah and Brahma temple. Visit came to end on 22 february 2016. On entire tour, students were full of excitement, disciplined and well mannered. Tour was a wonderful, knowledgable, full of fun.

EDUCATIONAL TRIP

A total of 53 Students made a visit to Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot under the guidance of Ms. Arash Kumari (Assist. Prof. Biotech ) and Mr. Pankaj nagpal (Assist. Prof. Biotech). The main objective for this trip was to acquint the knowledge of students with various instruments related to biotechnology. The bus boarded at 11:30a.m. There was so much excitement among the students regarding the visit. Students were made a visit to plant tissue culture lab, gas chromatography lab, flow cytometry lab, column chromatography lab. Dr. Parveen Bansal gave motivational lecture to students regarding biotechnology and its future aspects. Studends asked various technical questions related to various instruments. The visit came to end at 3 pm.The overall experience was very knowledgeable and full of excitement.

EDUCATIONAL TRIP TO BIR TALAB (B.Sc. Medical I Year)

The bus boarded at 10:00 a.m. and arrived at the zoo at 10:20 a.m. There was so much excitement among the students as they encountered many animals like Porcupine, Monkey, Many species of Deer like Sambar, Black buck (a rare species of deer), Hog Deer, Spotted Deer and Birds like Pigeons, Chakor, Crane, Saras, Parakeets Peacock and Ostrich. The students did deer safari which was a very pleasant and unforgettable experience. Students not only watched animals and birds they also observed various trees like Amaltas, Bamboo, Shisham, Teak and Khair. Students after visiting the zoo students relaxed in zoo canteen where they had some cold drinks and ice creams and snacks. Then bus departure from zoo and reached to college at 1:00 pm. The overall experience was very knowledgeable and full of excitement.

EDUCATIONAL TRIP TO CHATBIR ZOO (B.Sc. Medical II year)
A one day educational trip was organized by Department of Biotechnology and Medical, Baba Farid College for Medical IInd year students. A total of 38 Students made a visit to Mahendra Choudhary Chatbir Zoo, Zirkpur, Patiala under the guidance of Dr. Prakash Singh (Assist. Prof. Medical) and Prof. Shivangi Saxena (Assist. Prof. Biotech) and Mr. Jagsir Singh (Lab Assist.). The main objective for this trip was to promote awareness of endangered animals in the wild. The students did sightseeing around the zoo. The bus boarded at 6:00 a.m. and arrived at the zoo at 11 a.m. The students toured around the zoo for about 2-3 hours. They encountered many animals like Lion, Elephant, Deer and Reptiles. It's was such a worth sightseeing as students were excited to see the animals which they do not see in day today life.
After that, the bus departured from zoo at 3.00 p.m. to Gurdwara Parmeshwar Dwar Shekapur, Patiala. The students were taken to the prayer hall, after first covering their heads with head coverings, removing shoes and washing hands. The students along with their teacher’s sat in the prayer hall where ceremonial reader seated with the holy book, Guru Granth Sahib, was doing prayer. The atmosphere was devotional and blissful everywhere. Then they had langar in the Gurdwara, which everybody enjoyed. After the Gurdwara visit the bus took departure at 5.00 p.m. and all reached to their destinations by 8.30 p.m. The overall trip was successful as students enjoyed the wildlife at zoo and feel devotional at Gurdwara.

VISIT TO VERKA MILK PLANT
Department of Biotechnology and Medical, Baba Farid College has organized a trip to Verka Milk Plant, Bathinda for B.Sc Biotechnology III Semester students under the supervision of Prof. Pankaj Nagpal and Prof Komal Gupta. Total 59 students visited the milk plant. Visit provided practical exposure to the students with various Industrial as well as Laboratory scale Instruments, manufacturing process, quality assurance, quality control, milk Freezing unit, homogenizer unit, churning & packing processes, milk powder preparation etc. The students are benefited in terms of the technical details provided by the verka milk plant In-charge. The students got familiar about the production, maintenance, testing of milk, management, distribution and marketing. Visit seemed to be very informative and gave good learning experience. The students put a great impression on the staff of verka by asking several technical and scientific details about the various Instruments used in the plant. The visit came to end with the visit at Holy Palace Shri Haji Rattan Gurudwara at Locality. Throughout the trip students were found very curious. It is a unique way to give practical exposure to Education. Students were well mannered and disciplined throughout the tour. This trip is memorable for the students as they enjoyed and learned.

TRIP TO JAIPUR
Department of Biotechnology has organized a tour from 19.03.2015 (Evening) to 23.03.2015 (Morning) Jaipur, Agra for the students of B.Sc Biotechnology Ist , IInd and IIIrd year. About 30 students and 3 faculty members had enjoyed this tour. They reached Jaipur on 20-03-2015(morning). They visited Sanjay Museum, Jaigarh fort and Tiger fort. Then they took lunch at Goverdham Cafe near Kanak Garden. After lunch moved to watch movie in Raj Mandir then visited chokhi dhani and took delicious dinner there. It was a highly knowledgable and full fun visit as they enjoyed laser show, 3D show etc. On next day, they went to Jantar mantar, Hawa mahal and Albert Museum and worshipped in Birla Temple. At night, students enjoyed shopping in the city market and enjoyed DJ at hotel. Then next day checked out from the Jai singh Place at 7:15 a.m and moved to next destination Agra. On the way they took snacks and tea at Taj hotel at Bharatpura .There they visited Fatehpur and reached Agra and enjoyed the beauty of Taj Mahal and visited Museum. After that they took dinner at Highway Resort. Students enjoyed the entire journey with full enthusiasm. At last, they completed their journey back to Bathinda. This tour was a wonderful, knowledgable, religious and full of fun. Everyone brought so many sweet memories from this tour.

ONE DAY EXCURSION VISIT AT BIR TALAB FOREST ON 17-02-2015
Students of B.Sc Medical went to excursion visit at "BIR TALAAB" on dated 17-02-15 under the supervision of Dr. Kumud Joshi, Mr.Aman and Ms. Shivangi Saxena . It was a short excursion to the Zoological garden to study habitat and ecology of the animals. This visit would help the student to understand the nature of flora and fauna clearly and fruitful for preparing project report. It was suggested to them that they take pictures during the field trip to analyse and understand the ecological adaptations and biodiversity prevailing amongst the living things whether it is plants or animals, how the local environment of a particular place like zoo effects the habit of animals and how the animals of different climatic conditions acclimatize themselves in totally diverse conditions, the final report of the study will be completed and presented by the students as an assignment. The observation of entire visit revealed that over 80% of students took photographs contained animals. Students noticed and learned new features of familiar animals and about new, unfamiliar animals and they understood abstract concepts such as the need to preserve animals.
