Webinar on Current Trends and Technologies in IT on 3rd February 2022

The Department of Computer Science, Baba Farid College in collaboration with Research and Development Cell organised A Webinar on" Current Trends and Technologies in IT" by Ms. Menu Dhir, Joint Director NIELIT Chandigarh, for the students of MCA, on 3rd February 2022. Dr. Shalu, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, welcomed the guest speaker. All the faculty members were present in the webinar. In the beginning, Ms. Menu Dhir informed the students about NIELIT National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) which is an autonomous scientific society under the administrative control of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. Afterward, Menu Dhir made the students aware about Emerging technologies like Blockchain. Blockchain is a shared, immutable ledger that facilitates the process of recording transactions and tracking assets in a business network. An asset can be tangible (a house, car, cash, land) or intangible (intellectual property, patents, copyrights, branding). She further explained about Cyber Security and Internet of Things (IoT). Cyber security is the application of technologies, processes and controls to protect systems, networks, programs, devices and data from cyber-attacks while the Internet of Things (IoT) refers to a system of interrelated, internet-connected objects that are able to collect and transfer data over a wireless network without human intervention. Next, she told the trends of Artificial Intelligence. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the ability of a computer or a robot controlled by a computer to do tasks that are usually done by humans because they require human intelligence and discernment. She told about other technologies followed by social media, big data analytics, cloud computing, virtual reading,3D printing. She motivated and guided the students to get benefit of various courses designed by NIELIT. Students put queries at the end of speech. It was a wonderful and promising interaction that was sure to motivate many aspirants. Sharing her experience with students and guiding students regarding opportunities coming in these fields, would be helpful for placements in the future.

At the end of Session, Dr. Tejinder Singh, HoD Computer Science thanked the speaker and said that they looked forward to such interactions in the near future.

Career and Guidance for final year students of BCA, MCA on 15th Dec, 2021

To era of competition, it is too hard for students to decide further study according to their interest. For this purpose, Department of Computer Science, Baba Farid College Bathinda organized a seminar or counselling session on Career and Guidance for final year students of BCA, MCA on 15th Dec, 2021. To counsel the students, department of Computer Science invited Mr. B. D. Sharma (Career guidance and counselling) who is the most experience person and one of the best counsellors in Baba Farid Group of Institutions. Er. Amandeep Kaur Ghai, Co-Coordinator of activity, welcome the guest speaker.

The Main objective of this seminar was to develop career oriented skills in the students. The scientific and technological developments have changed the structure of the society, which includes the career primarily; therefore, we need to plan the career of students as per abilities and capabilities from the very early stages of the education. To develop employability and enterprise skills, such as teamwork and communication in the students. And provide students with a comprehensive understanding of opportunity at key transition points and translate these effectively into appropriate decision and actions. It can help the students make right choices not just for career for student's life.

Mr. B.D. Sharma started his talk through sharing power point presentation with all where he explained about scope of all the courses and guided about higher education and some of skills development courses for further study of students. He told about some inspirational stories and such motivated stories with the students. No doubts, student really motived from their stories because when he asked some questions in between session to the students and students answered very well and even gave answered with full of enthusiasm. Further, he told to the students three things that must do in their life and fixed it, especially if student want to make their future bright. First things, students have to decide goal in their life in purpose that exactly what they want to achieve and what success they want? It is very important for students first they set goal in their life. Secondly they have perseverance to achieve goal because of perseverance, they fixed their goal and does not change mind and consternation on their goal. Third and last one, passion, if student have lot of passion, then definitely they achieved success in their life because sometimes we try to do lot of hard work but we can't near to success so don't be negative, They have to try and try with the full of passion. If these three things, students all decide in their life and fixed and finalized, then nobody can stop from their success and from goal.

He motivated the students by discussing their ideas and concerns about educational and carrier choices. Inspirational stories told by speaker is really motivated to the students and are needed to develop the ability to cope with their new problems and concerns in such a way that they become more competent to meet the demands which will continue to be made upon them in the future. After this session, student gave feedback according as this was an excellent session and they learned a lot from this session. The whole event was organised under the guidance of Dr. Tejinder Singh (HoD, Computer Science). Dr. Manish Bansal, Principal BFC, Appreciate the effort done by department of computer Science.

Website Designing Competition on 13th December 2021

Computer Science Department in collaboration with the skill development cell organised "Website Designing Competition" on 13th December 2021.

Themes of the activity were Digital India, Environment, E-Resources in the field of Education, and College/School Website. The Purpose of competition was to develop the web designing and development skills in the students and engage them in Designing of web pages and helps them in improving the developing web applications skills.

The students presented their web development skills with use of HTML, DHTML and CSS. This activity kept the student engaged and it was organized to explore and encourage creativity in students and offer them a platform to showcase their skills. It inspired them to think and to work creatively in order to promote artistic excellence. The event was an opportunity for the students to unite their knowledge with their creative thinking.

here was no entry fee. The queries regarding this competition were handled by event coordinator Dr. Shalu Gupta. The result was judged by Dr. Tejinder Singh (Head of Computer Science Department) and Mr. Mukesh Kumar. The e-certificates were also sent to the all the participants and winners through mail. Overall, Web Designing competition proved a viable alternative for Developers to compete and to expose their Web Development skills. This competition filled the participants with motivation, inspiration and confidence. The participants get exposure of their website designing and development in an offline mode.

Fresher's Party "Euphoria"

Department of the Computer Science, Baba Farid College Bathinda organized a Fresher's Party "Euphoria" for the fresher students. The Program was inaugurated by the students of 2 year with warm welcome of Freshers. The event was started by seniors Himanshu, Gurleen Kaur, Ravneet Kaur and Beant Kaur by welcoming the freshers to "Euphoria", with full of fun and entertainment. The first item was a bhangra performed by BCA 1st year. This was then followed by solo dance by Anshu (BCA 1 year). There were number of performances, games played by the juniors in which students of 1st year took participate very enthusiatically. The event of the day was the Mr. and Ms. Fresher competition. All the participants were well dressed and walked the ramp in their own style. The participants, who had been selected in the first round, had to enter the second round, where the participants had to entertain the audience for 60 seconds. The last round of the competition was the question answer round where the selected participants had to answer the questions asked by the judges. The judges of this competition were Ms. Jyoti Aggarwal, Ms. Harpreet Kaur and Mr. Davinderpal Singh.

Mr. Tanveer singh of BCA-Ist yr was adjudged as the "Mr. Fresher", on the other side Miss. Muskan of MCA 1st yr won the title of "Miss Fresher". The Titles of Mr. Talented and Miss. Talented were achieved by Mr. Harmanpreet Singh from MCA, and Miss. Bhawna from BCA respectively. The Titles of Mr. Handsome and Miss. Charming were achieved by Mr. Abhishek and Miss. Muskanpreet both from BCA. At last Bhangra performed by the students of 2nd year. Everybody enjoyed the function very much and Dr. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Hon'ble Chairman BFGI blessed the students with his precious wishes and appreciated the whole function. This whole function was a memorable event.

Enhance your Skills-A Workshop for Effective Communication Skill

A 4 day workshop was organized by Department of Training and Placement, BFC in collaboration with Skill Development Cell, BFC from 28th September 2021 to 1st October 2021.The students of final year of UG's and PG's courses who have opted Placement as their Future Preference attended the workshop. The main object of this workshop was to prepare students for the challenges that they will face in the process of job interview concerned to Communication Skills. On the first day of the workshop, the students were addressed by Mr. Gurmeet Singh (Assistant Professor in English) where students were trained to write their resume more effectively. He advised students to focus more on writing their resume in their own language. The event continued next day also and students were informed briefly about the "do's and don'ts" that every candidate had to keep in mind while preparing for a job interview. He told students that being confident and aware is the mantra to succeed in any interview. He also emphasized that good knowledge of course work is crucial in getting a job. Students raised the queries regarding making resume more effective.

On the third day, students were taught how to communicate during a job interview by Ms. Shweta (Assistant Professor in English). Students took an active part in this session and showed their communication skills. In this session students got to know about Behavior, Body Gesture and how to stay confident during the interview. On the final day of the workshop, a group discussion was organized and students were given two topics for discussion. Students were divided into two groups and each group choose one topic. Event coordinator Ms. Satinder Kaur and Mr Navdeep Kochhar (Dean Training and Placement, BFC) took queries of the students at the end of every session which were answered in a brief manner and thanked the students for attending the workshop It was evident from the enthusiasm shown by the students that the event was a success

5 Days workshop on "Data Sciences Using Python"

The 5-days National Virtual Workshop 2021 on Data Sciences Using Python organized from 13th to 17th September by Department of Computer Science and Research and Innovation Cell of Baba Farid College in collaboration with Central University of Punjab, Bathinda. The entire workshop has wrapped up after five days of wonderful scientific interaction, many knowledgeable experiences and a promise of yet another interaction in future.

First day was began with inaugural session. A brief introduction and objectives of the workshop told by Dr. Shalu and welcome speech by Dr. Manish Bansal, Vice-Principal, Baba Farid College, Bathinda.

The first day, first session was started by Dr. Harmandeep Kaur from Eternal University, Baru Sahib, having specialization in Image processing, Natural Language Processing and big data. She started her talk with the introduction to the Data Science and Big data. She has elaborated in detail the meaning, purpose and prospective of data Sciences in various application domains. She has also provided the detailed information about big data and the need of big data. After that she discussed about relationship between the big data and data sciences.

The first day, Second session was started by Dr. Mehar Chand from Baba Farid College, Bathinda. He has elaborated in detail the purpose and prospective of python in various application domains. He has discussed various libraries of python. He has also provided the demonstration on the installation of tools, operators and if else statements in Python programming. He demonstrated all the topics with hands on expertise on Python platform. This live interaction and practical session was liked by the participants.

The second day, third session was started by Dr. Parvinder Singh, Central University of Punjab, Bathinda. He is expert in Quantum Information Processing, Quantum Computing, Quantum Cryptography, information Security, and Network Security.He started with brief introduction to topics covered in second day of workshop. He covered the use of linear algebra in data sciences. He covered the various topics i.e. vector, vector space, distance calculation methods, composition and decomposition of Singular value etc. After that he explained the mathematical details and practical implementation of linear algebra using python.

The second day, fourth session was started by Er. Surinder Singh Khurana, Central University of Punjab, Bathinda. He has expertise in Computer Science, Hardware and architecture, computer Networks and Network Security. He covered lists, dictionaries, tuples, variables, flow control statements and operators etc. He covered for loops, while loops, program control statements etc. with suitable examples. After that he explained the purpose of modular programming using functions and how it can be programmed in python with live examples. The third day, fifth session was started by Dr. Upinder Kaur, Akal University, Bathinda. She has expertise in the data science, big data and machine learning technologies. She started by giving brief introduction to topics covered in the fifth day of workshop. She covered the advance topics in Python programming and its working libraries i.e. Pandas. She elaborated with the Indexing and Slicing of series, Indexing, Slicing Data Frames and data frame subset functions. She further explained how to handle missing data create data frames, merge and import data with real life examples.

The third day, sixth session was started by our honorable expert speaker Dr. Amandeep Kaur, Central University of Punjab. She has expertise in computer vision, information Security, machine learning, soft computing and previous area of specialization is Embedded System Design.She started with introduction to topics covered in the sixth session of workshop. She covered the advance topics in Python programming - its working libraries i.e. Numpy and Statistics. She elaborated basics of statistics i.e. mean, median, mode with examples and practical implementation by spyder interface. She further explained numpy library with real life examples.

The fourth day, seventh session was started by Dr. Parvinder Singh, Central University of Punjab, Bathinda. He started by giving brief introduction to topics covered in seventh session of the workshop. He covered the use of data-preprocessing and data visualization in data science. He covered the various type of variable used for storing the numerical data, to handle missing values. After that he explained the various ways of visualization of data i.e. histogram, bar graph, box and whisker plot, scatter matrix plot, correlation plot etc. by using python.

The fourth day, eighth session was started by Er. Surinder Singh, Central University of Punjab, Bathinda. He covered various types of supervised machine learning algorithms i.e. Support Vector Machine, K-nn (K-Nearest Neighbor Algorithm) etc. was explained and implemented in python. The fifth day, Ninth session was started by Er. Surinder Singh, Central University of Punjab, Bathinda. He explained unsupervised machine learning algorithms.

This was wonderful virtual workshop, which make us realized that we are practice in real mode. All the session were very interesting and appreciated by the attended. Overall, the workshop has wrapped up on a promising note. It was a useful interaction that is sure to motivate many aspirants. In all, it was an absolute honor to share space with you even if its virtual space. Alumni Interaction Session on 13th Sept 2021

The Computer Science department, Faculty of Sciences, Baba Farid College, Bathinda organized the Alumni Interaction Session in Offline mode on dated 13th Sept, 2021. This session was for the students of BCA 1st sem. as part of their Induction program. 80 students attended this session to get inspired. The aim of this session was to provide knowledge to the students regarding enhancing their learning interest, skills development which would support in career planning and grab opportunities in their academic as well as professional career. During the session our Alumnus named Paras Singla, Associate analyst, Deloitte shared his views with students. He explained about the skill set required for fresher in IT sector like communication skills, aptitude skills, problem solving skill etc. He also discussed about the different rounds of selection process and explained the various ideas how students could prepare for these rounds. He shared his experience of getting job. He motivated the students about Skills required to get placed in good companies during placement sessions. He told students that coding skills were not only which were required to get placed in good companies. Apart from this, communication skills and logical skill also play an important part to get placed. He explained about different rounds in placement. He answered all the queries by students. Apart from him we had introduced one more Alumnus named Manpreet Kaur she is doing MCA in 2nd year now. She shared her Journey of BFGI with Students.

Programming Competition on Skill Development (31st August, 2021)

Skill Development Cell, Baba Farid College, in Collaboration with Department of Computer Science, BFC organized a Programming Competition on 31st August 2021. The main motive of this competition was the improvement of technical skills of the students. A goodNumber of students from different courses participated in this event. In this competition a problem was given to students whichthey hadto attempt using C programming. In the effort to make Baba Farid College, a strong kernel of technical skill development, the Skill Development Cell (SDC) has been constituted last year. The Judgesof this event were Mr. Mukesh Kumar (In charge, Skill Development Cell) and Dr. Shalu(Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, BFC). The Judges encouraged the students and appreciated the efforts exhibited by the students and faculty. Prachi (MCA 2ndyear) got 1stposition, Alka Rani (BCA 2ndYear) got 2nd position and Tipsy (B.Sc. (Hons.)- Mathematics 3rd Year)secured 3rd position.The participants learnt a lot of new things through this competition and showed their keen interest in attending similar kind ofactivities in future. Skill Development Cell is planning to organize many more activities to improve the technical skills among the students.

Online Alumni Meet on 28th Aug, 2021

Faculty of Sciences in association with Almuni association of Baba Farid College organized "online Alumni Meet" for Year 2019 and 2020 passout students of B.Sc. (Non-Medical, Medical, Biotechnology, CSM), BCA, PGDCA, M.Sc. IT, M.Sc. IT (LE), M.Sc. Physics, M.Sc. Zoology, M.Sc. Botany, M.Sc. Chemistry, M.Sc. Mathematics on dated 28th Aug, 2021. It was a wonderful event for the students to refresh their memories. Dr. Tejinder Singh(Head, Department of Computer Science) welcomed all the alumni for responding to the invitation from college and being present for the alumni meet in spite of their busy schedule. Each one of the alumni shared their memories. This was followed by speeches by alumni from different batches. All Heads of the concern departments were present there and they shared their views with alumni. The event managed by An alumna Mr. Bishroop Dutta, Co-coordinator, Alumni association of Baba Farid College. He is also working as Assistant Professor in department of chemistry, BFC.

The event was stimulating and enjoyable as well as students learned a lot as all members shared their new ideas and information. Alumni also express their views regarding necessities of skill in students for fulfilling the demand of industry and expressed how BFC helped them to get a good job.

Nazia, Supreet, Tammana alumni of Biotechnology department Shared their views regarding golden memories of college. Tammanna Also shared moments of trip during college life and she Thanked all the teachers of department for their guidance.

Paras, alumna of Computer Science department who is working in Deloitte Company, said that BFC is a best college in northern region because he got wonderful experience of earning by learning projects at the time of study in BFC. He praised the teachers and said that teachers are our second parents. Anu, Ronica Alumni of Computer Science department also shared their views.

Kirti, Alumna of Physics department who is working in Infosys company, shared her unforgettable moments of class environment, cultural and sports activities. She praised teaching methodology of teachers of physics department. Rekha, Sania, Navneet Alumni of Physics department also shared their thoughts of college life.

Sukhdeep Alumna of Mathematics shared her views regarding experienced teachers of college and their valuable guidance.

Many other alumni of Baba Farid College also shared their views towards their teachers and Baba Farid college. Most of them are working in top Software companies, Industries in India and in other countries. They expressed that how the working experience of live projects helped them to understand industrial environment in advance for getting a good job. They appreciated the placement and cultural activities of college for building of confidence. Most of the students talked about how practical exposure in BFC helped them to get a job.

The session was concluded by the vote of thanks by Dr. Ritu Pawan(Head, Department of Biotechnology), BFC to all the alumni present in the meeting.

The Principal, Baba Farid College appreciated the efforts of Alumni association and congratulates them for this successful meet. The event was a great success in its prime motive of connecting alumni.

Poster Making Competition on 26th August 2021

Women Development Cell in collaboration with Computer Science and Mathematics Department has organized "Poster making Competition" based on theme "women empowerment" for all students of Baba Farid College. The objective of all these initiatives is to work towards ensuring that girls are born, loved and nurtured and grow up to become empowered citizens of this country with equal rights. It is to promote the gender equality and to raise the consciousness of the society towards the girl child so that she can be valued and respected. This competition was carried out under the guidance of Ms. Seema Ahuja, Assistant Professor Department of Agriculture. The online registration process has been carried through Google Link. The last date to send the entry was 25th August 2021. Almost 26 participants from the various programmes like B.Sc. Hons. Mathematics, B.Sc. Hons. Physics, B.Sc. Non medical, B.Sc. Computer Science and M.Sc. Physics were participated. Students were asked to express their ideas through poster making as per given instructions. The young learners displayed their artistic skills through an expressive ideas through drawing and art. Students of various courses participated in the competition with immense zeal and enthusiasm. The students thoroughly enjoyed the activity. Spontaneity and confidence were the hallmark of the competition. The students left everyone awe-struck as they presented their talent so immaculately and effortlessly.

They were appreciated for their superb performance. The final judgment of this event was concluded by Ms. Rupinder Kaur and Ms. Ramanpreet Kaur Insa. The result declaration has been done on dated 25 August, 2021The first position was bagged by Nancy Bishnoi (M.Sc. Physics), the second position was bagged by Ishika ((B.Sc. Hons. Mathematics) and third position was secured by Akashdeep Jindal (B.Sc. Mathematics) and Agyapal Kaur (Computer Science). This event encouraged the students to independently examine their presentation skills. Different departments put their best foot forward by participating with great enthusiasm. The event was an opportunity for the students to unite their knowledge with their creative streak and express their views using the colors of imagination.

QuizTech Competition Students on 1st July 2021

Skill Development Cell, Baba Farid College in collaboration with Department of Computer Science, Baba Farid College Bathinda organized QuizTech Competition for the UG Students on 1st July 2021 in an online mode through MS Teams.The main idea behind involving students in the competition was to enhance students' knowledge about technical concepts and to engage them in an activity from the comfort of their homes.

The students were given MCQs in order to attempt.The quiz comprised of 20 questions from technical background. This competition was judged on the basis of marks obtained by the students. Based on evaluation, 1st and 2nd Ranks were assigned to the students. First rank was got by six students of BCA Sem-II who bagged 20 points: Alka Rani, Esha, Neetu Rani, Dawinder Singh, Karanpreet Singh and Sukhveer Kaur Jyoti. While five students of BCA Sem-II secured 2nd rank who bagged 19 points: Pushpinder Singh, Tanu Garg, Tushar Verma, Jatin Goyal and Jatin Gogia.It was very informative and knowledge enriching competition for the participants. By participating in this competition, the participants came to know about their technical background. The students looked to be interested to attend similar kind of activities in future. Skill Development Cell, BFC is planning to organize more activities like this to improve the professional skills of the students.

Know Yourself - Interview Competition

Skill Development Cell, Baba Farid College in collaboration with Department of Computer Science, Baba Farid College Bathinda organized an interview Competition named as "Know Yourself" for all the PG Students of Computer Science on 25th June 2021 in an online mode through MS Teams. The students were expected to submit Resume in order to get registered for this competition. The main motive of competition was to improve students' communication skill and to enhance their confidence level while taking part in an interview.

The judge of this competition was Mr. Akshay Kumar (Training and Placement Officer, BFGI). This competition was judged on the basis of six criteria like Introduction part, Communication skills, Confidence level, Ability to answer HR questions, Attitude and body language during interview and Resume writing. The Judge encouraged the students and appreciated the efforts exhibited by them. Based on evaluation, Prachi (MCA 1st year) won 1stposition, Dhirendra Singh Chauhan (MCA 1st year) won 2nd position and Gagandeep Kaur (MCA 1st year) scored third position. Various Senior faculty members also visited the competition and encouraged the participants. Based on this competition, the students came to know the kind of questions that are expected to be asked in an interview. The students looked to be interested to attend similar kind of activities in future. Skill Development Cell, BFC is planning to organize many more activities to improve the professional skills of the students.

Career Talk on "How to ace Summer Internship with INTERNSHALA" on 8th April, 2021

Skill Development Cell, Baba Farid College, Bathindaorganized a virtual career talk on "How to ace summer internship" powered by Internshala on 8th April, 2021. This talk was organized through Microsoft TEAMs app. The main motive of this talk was to aware students regarding how they could apply for various internships on Internshala platform. In this talk Mr. Mukesh Kumar (Incharge, Skill Development Cell, BFC) guided students regarding online internship opportunities on various platforms. Internshala is one such platform which provide online internships to the students based on their skillset. Resource person told the importance of various skills required in today's world for getting internships and jobs. He also discussed regarding online platforms like NPTEL, SWAYAM, Edx, Udemyetc which provide free of cost skill-based content in different streams. Above all he showed practically how students could applyand get an internship on online platforms. Students asked many queries and all queries were successfully answered by our resource person. Students were very much satisfied by this talk and they requested to organize more such talks in future.

Tech Presentation Competition on 8th April 2021

Skill Development Cell, Baba Farid College in collaboration with Department of Computer Science, Baba Farid College organized a PowerPoint Presentation Competition named as "Tech Presentation" on 8thApril 2021 in an online mode through MS Teams. The main motive of competition was the improvement in presentation skills of students and to engage them in some innovative tasks from the comfort of their homes.

The judges of this competition were Dr. Shalu and Ms. Harmandeep Kaur (Assistant Professors, Department of Computer Science). This competition was judged on the basis of presentation skills, domain knowledge, confidence, query handling, etc. The Judges encouraged the students and appreciated the efforts exhibited by them. Himanshu Bansal (UID: 2016068 - BCA 1st year) won 1st position, Ravneet Kaur (UID: 19108001 - MCA 2nd year) won 2nd position and Akash Polson (UID: 1916027 - BCA 2nd year and Esha (UID-201613) - BCA 1st year) were the co-winners for third position. Various Senior faculty members also visited the competition and encouraged the participants. The participants gained sufficient knowledge regarding the important concepts like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, Cyber Security through this competition and got answers to their queries. The students looked to be interested to attend similar kind of activities in future.

Alumni Interaction Session on 19th March, 2021

The Computer Science department, Faculty of Sciences, Baba Farid College, Bathinda organized the Alumni Interaction Session in Offline mode on dated 19th March,2021. This session was for the students of BCA 4thsem , BCA 6thsem, MCA 4thsem and Msc-IT 4thsem(only for those students who opted Placement as there Future preference).45students attended this session to get inspired. The aim of this session was to provide knowledge to the students regarding enhancing their learning interest, skills development which would support in career planning and grab opportunities in their academic as well as professional career. During the session our Alumnus named Navrattan, Software Developer in Coforge Technology, NIT shared his views with students. He explained about the skill set required for freshers in IT sector like communication skills, aptitude skills, problem solving skill etc. He also discussed about the different rounds of selection process and explained the various ideas how students could prepare for these rounds. He shared his experience of getting job. He motivated the students about Skills required to get placed in good companies during placement sessions.He told students that coding skills were not only which were required to get placed in good companies. Apart from this, communication skills and logical skill also play an important part to get placed. He explained about different rounds in placement. He answered all the queries by students.

Expert talk on "Need of Skills in Corporate Sector"

Baba Farid College organized an expert talk on "Need of Skills in Corporate Sector"on 19th March, 2021 for the students of Baba Farid College under the Skill Development Cell, BFC. The Main motive of this talk was too aware the students regarding corporate culture and need of skills required in IT sector. Our Guest Speaker Mr. Abhijeet Masson, Software Developer, Wipro delivered his talk about making students familiar regarding the current technologies used in IT sectors. He explained about the skill set required for freshers in IT sector like Aptitude Skills, Communication skills, problem solving skills etc. He also discussed about the selection process of service-based companies and explained the various ideas that how students can prepare for these companies. Students asked many queries regarding placement and training in Wipro. Our guest speaker solved all the queries of students and students were very much satisfied by answers given by our guest speaker.

Orientation Session on Higher Studies

In this era of competition, it is difficult for students to decide further study according to their interest. For this purpose, Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Sciences, Baba Farid College,Bathinda organized an Activity:'Orientation Session' for students of BCA Sem-2nd ,M.Sc-IT Sem-1st, PGDCA sem-1st and MCA sem-1st on dated 10th March,2021. To counsel the students, department of Computer Science invited Mr.B.D.Sharma(D.D.Career Guidance and Counselling)who is the most experienced person and one of the best counsellors in Baba Farid Group of Institutions. The aim of the career program was to develop positive attitudes in the pupils towards study and work, to enhance employability, to help the students to plan and take control of their future, making informed choices at key points in their education. This session was conducted for students to help them evaluate their own strength and to build their own area for development, fully engage in career planning, and to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of opportunity at key transition points and translate these effectively into appropriate decision and actions. The objectives also comprised providing timely advice and guidance to students relevant to their careers and to help the students to make right choices regarding their career.

Mr. B.D. Sharma started his talk through sharing power point presentation where he explained about scopeof higher education courses and some of skills development courses for further study. He explained one by one each and every slide and guided how these courses could be helpful to the students for their future. He shared some inspirational stories with the students to motivate the students. No doubt,students really got motivated from his stories.When he asked some question in between of session then the students answered very well and even gave answers with full enthusiasm. Further, he shared three things with the students that they must do in their life, especially if students want to make their future bright. First thing, student have to decide goal in their life specifically i.e.what they wanted to achieve .Secondly, they should have perseverance to achieve goal and should not change mind and must have full concentration on their goal. Third and last one, passion, if student have lot of passion to achieve the goal, then they could definitely achieve success in their life. If students adopted these three thingsin their life, then nothing can stop them to achieve their goal.

The speaker really motivated the students and askedto develop the ability to cope with their new problems and concerns in such a way that they become more competent to meet the demands of future. At last, there was query session and students asked some questions.Mr. B.D. Sharma answered all the queries made by the students. All the students enjoyed this counselling session as they learnt a lot to achieve goal and success in their life. Even faculty members also enjoyed this session. Finally, the counselling session ended with the vote of thanks by the HoD Dr.Tejinder Singh. Ms. Satinder Kaur play the role event co-ordinator.

Geeks Coding Challenge on 18th February 2021

Skill Development Cell, Baba Farid College in collaboration with Department of Computer Science, Baba Farid College, organized a Programming Competition "Geeks Coding Challenge" on 18th February 2021. The main motive of competition was based on the improvement in technical skills of students by using C Programming. More than 20 students were registered and participated in this event. In this competition list of programs was given to students to attempt in 1 hour. In effort to make Baba Farid Group of Institutions, a strong kernel of technical skill development, the Skill Development Cell (SDC) has been established in this new year. First activity was organized under this SDC. The judge for this event was Mr. Mukesh Kumar (Coordinator of Skill Development Cell, BFC). Various Senior faculty members also visited the competition and encouraged the participants. Our Judge encouraged the students and appreciated the effort exhibited by the students and faculties. Prachi (UID 20108004, MCA 1styear ) won 1stposition, Pranjul (UID 1816052, BCA 3rdYear) won 2nd position and Himanshu (UID 1816053, BCA 3rd Year) was the third winner. The participants learnt alot of new things through this competition and they are interested to attend similar kind of activities in future. SDC is planning to organize more activities to improve the technical skills of the students.

Poster Making competition on 2nd January 2021

The Art Club of Computer Science department, Faculty of Sciences, Baba Farid College, Bathinda organized an online "Poster Making" competition on 2nd January 2021 for all the students of Baba Farid College. This competition was organized in order to ignite the fire of imagination and creativity in the students. The theme of the competition was 'Effective use of ePlatforms for effective Learning'. Students were allowed to use pencil, crayon, sketch, pastel, water color, poster color, etc as tools of drawing / painting and the entries of "created Art work" were invited through Google form till 2ndJanuary, 2021. The queries regarding this competition were handled by event coordinator Ms. Harmandeep Kaur (AP,Computer Science) and the students of "Art Club". The young learners displayed their artistic skills through an array of posters.This activity kept the student engaged and it was organized to explore and encourage creativity in students and offer them a platform to showcase their skills. It inspired them to think and to work creatively in order to promote artistic excellence. The creativity & innovative ideas to present the particular and those issues were artistically presented through and captured in posters. The posters were judged according to creativity, presentation and relevance to the theme and the result was declared on 4thNovember, 2021. The results were shared with the students via published post through Microsoft Teams and social media. The e-certificates were also sent to the all the participants and winners through e-mail.

Students at college level participated in the competition with immense zeal and enthusiasm and made beautiful posters which gave the message of 'Effective use of ePlatforms for effective Learning' It was a great opportunity to watch these young minds creating and displaying their ideas on paper from the comfort of their homes. The students thoroughly enjoyed the activity.The artistic endeavor of the students was highly praised and encouraged by the faculty members.

The Computer Science department, Faculty of Sciences, Baba Farid College, Bathinda organized the Alumni Interaction Session by online mode through Microsoft Teams app on 7th Jan, 2021.This session was organised for students of BCA 1stsem ,MSc-IT 1stsem , MCA 1stsem and PGDCA 1st sem. The aim of this session was to provide knowledge to the students regarding learning interest, skills enhancement which will support in career planning and grab opportunities in their academic or professional career. Diya Decoration competition on 6th November, 2020

The Art Club of Computer Science department, Faculty of Sciences, Baba Farid College, Bathinda organized an online "Diya Decoration" competition for all the students of Baba Farid College. The circular for this competition was revealed on 6th November, 2020 on Microsoft Teams App. Students were allowed to use eco-friendly material in order to decorate the diya. There was no live platform and the entries of "created Art work" were invited through Google form till 12th November, 2020. There was no entry fees. The queries regarding this competition were handled by event coordinator and the students of "Art Club" whose information with contact numbers were mentioned in the circular. The competition result was revealed on 16th November, 2020 and the concerned post was also prepared and shared among students through Microsoft Teams and social media. After post sharing, the students got motivation and inspiration to participate in the coming events. The e-certificates were also sent to the all the participants and winners through mail.

The Computer Science department, Faculty of Sciences, Baba Farid College, Bathinda organized the Alumni Interaction Session in online mode though Microsoft Teams app on 16th November 2020. This session was internal to the computer science department for students of BCA 3rd sem , BCA 5th sem, MCA 1stsem and MCA 3rd sem. Approximate 95 students attended this session. The aim of this session is to provide knowledge to the students regarding raise in learning interest, skills enhancement development which will support in career planning and grab opportunities in their academic or professional career. He motivated the students about Skills required to get placed in good companies during placement session.He told students that coding skills is not the one which required to get placed in good companies apart from this communication skills and logical skill also play an important role to get placed. He explained about different round in placement. He answered all the queries asked by students. This event coordinator was Ms.Satinder Kaur (AP, Comp Sci.).

Faculty of Sciences, Department of Computer Science, Baba Farid College organised "Alumni Interaction" for the students of BCA 1st Year in aims to provide the knowledge to the participants regarding raise in learning interest, skills enhancement development which will support in career planning and grab opportunities in their academic or professional career. This Session was organised on 6th Oct, 2020 through Microsoft Teams. The Alumi Punit Kansal, Software developer, Admiral Technologies shared his views with students. He shared his experience of getting job. He motivated the students about new or easy learning platform for coding. He explained about different round in placement and told students to learn about elitmus, co-cubes, amcat for good job opportunities.He answered the queries asked by students.

Counselling Session for Final Year students of BCA, M.Sc. IT

The Department of Computer Science, faculty of sciences organised a Counselling Session for the students of final year on 10th Sept, 2020. Students got knowledge about their career options after the completion of their present course. In order to give complete information about their career in this session, a special counsellor Shri B.D. Sharma (Deputy Director, Career Guidance and counselling, BFGI) was invited. He shared his valuable ideas with students regarding various options after BCA and M.Sc. IT. He also motivated the audience with successful stories.

Alumni Interaction Session on 03-03-2020

The Department of Computer Science Organized an Alumni Interaction Session held on Dated 03/03/2020 for Students of BCA 4th sem, Msc-IT 4th sem and MCA 2nd sem all students in Mini Seminar Hall of Block-C. In this session our Alumni Named Akash Grover (Owner of Ternal Info Tech Company) interacts with students.

He has done BCA from BFGI in 2015. He share with students his previous experience and also provide knowledge information to students regarding the current technology demanded in IT sector. He informs the students Regarding Laravel, Word Press, Cpanel, Hosting, Domain, Freelancer and Web Templates.  So to get placed in got company the student must have knowledge about these technologies. A part from this he also informs the students regarding the projects he is currently working.

Competition on the occasion of "Karwa Chauth"

On the occasion of 'Karwa Chauth', Cultural Club, department of computer science, Baba Farid College organized different types of activities in competition on dated 16th Oct, 2019. The Students actively participated in competition of Mehndi, Pot (Karwa) Painting, Food without fire and nail art. The students got an opportunity to exhibit their talent and confidence. The competition inspired the students to come forward and enjoy the event. The students shown creativity with great zeal and enthusiasm in Mehndi, karwa painting and food without fire.

The Judgment had been done by Ms. Navninder Kaur Dhillon (Dean Academic Affairs, BFGI) and Dr. Amandeep Singh (Dean Academic Affairs, BFC).

Department of Computer Science, Baba Farid College organised "Debugging" competition

The Department of computer science organised a "Debugging" competition to promote programming skills in students and making soft tricks to find errors in programs. Participants had to solve all types of errors with correct output of the program in minimum time to win the competition Debugging is the process of detecting and removing of existing and potential errors (also called as 'bugs') in a software code that can cause it to behave unexpectedly or crash. To prevent incorrect operation of a software or system, debugging is used to find and resolve bugs or defects. The event received good response and 75 students from various departments participated in this competition. There were two rounds of the event. In final round, Mr. Ankit (BCA 2nd Sem), Himanshu (BSc. CSM 4th Sem), Gurbir Kaur (MSc. 2nd Sem) got first, second and third positions respectively. All the winner students were distributed appreciation certificates.

Alumni Interaction Session on 19-3-2019

The department of Computer Science, BFC organized an Alumni Interaction Session on dated 19-3-2019 for students of BCA, Msc-IT and PGDCA whose first preference is placement. In this our alumni named Mr. Pankaj Kumar currently doing Job in Infosys Lt., Pune as Operation Executive, guides the students regarding what type of preparation is required to get placed in Infosys Lt. He also share their experience of Interview and which types of questions asked to them during interview. On same day ,the department of Computer Science, BFC organized a Motivational Lecture of Ms Baishakhi (Head of Training and Placement, BFGI) for the students of (Bsc-CS, Bsc-NM, Bsc-CSM, Bsc-Biotech, BCA and Msc-IT 2nd year) who have first preference for placement.

The Department of Computer Science, Baba Farid College organised "Poem recitation and Elocution" competition

On the occasion of 'International mother language day', the department of computer science, Baba Farid college organized "Poem recitation and Elocution" competition. In this competition, the students from different departments participated. The participants, exhibited perfect nuances and finer points that go into making a public speech interesting and captivating. The poise, self-confidence and praiseworthy articulation delivered by the speakers with uncommon sense of conviction, made the event a benchmark for the fellow students, also providing utmost satisfaction.

The judges well and truly moved by the effort, applauded the hard work and particularly appreciated the material / content collated by the students to prepare the assigned topic of the Elocution.  Beauty is the realm of poetry; children enjoy the beauty of expression, thoughts, feeling, rhyme, rhythm and music of words in poem competition. Taking all these facts into consideration the students got an opportunity to exhibit their talent and confidence. The competition inspired the students to come forward and recite on stage. The students came up with different poems  and recited them with great zeal and enthusiasm.

The judges were Mr. B. D. Sharma, Deputy Director career guidance & counselling, Ms. Amritpal kaur Coordinator youth welfare department and Mr. Jagmeet Singh, Deputy Dean Cultural, BFC. Some factors which were adjudged during the competition were voice quality, speech content and delivery standards with appropriate topics.

Fresher's Party on dated 3rd Sept, 2018

It's that time of the year where all the senior batches of the college are geared up to welcome their new bunch of juniors. Students of computer science organized a grand party "MONDAZE PARTY" for their juniors. Various activities like group dance, solo dance, jokes and skits were performed. Nitika and Arshdeep Singh were declared Miss Fresher and Mr. Fresher respectively. While the title of Ms. Charming and Mr. Handsome were bagged by Mehakdeep Kaur and Mr. Abhishek Dabra respectively.

"TECH-WAR" Competition

Code Geass Club of Department of Computer Science  organized a Competition " TECH-WAR " for the students of Computer Science, B.Sc. (CS, NM, MC, CSM,Biotech) and  BA on dated 21st  Feb, 2018.

This contest encouraged the students to independently examine their Knowledge skills through various rounds. Different departments put their best foot forward by participating with great enthusiasm.

There were three rounds of this competition. In first round 'Unseen Mania', students made a story on the basis of pictures shown on the spot. In second round named 'Maze Runners' ,clues were given to students and after collecting clues  they had to  complete their task and record in their phones for judgment. In the final round 'Buzzer Round', students participated in quiz of technical questions.

The event was an opportunity for the students to unite their knowledge with their creative thinking. The endeavor of the students was highly praised and encouraged by the dignitaries and guests. In this competition, the students tried to prove their talent in the best possible way.

The first position was secured by team of  Navrattan(BCA  6th sem ),Jasveer Singh(BCA 6th Sem) and Navkiran Singh(BCA 2nd Sem), second position got by team of  Jacky (BCA 2nd Sem) ,Arshpreet Singh(BCA 2nd Sem)  and Varinder Singh(BCA 2nd Sem) and third position secured by team of Parminder Singh(BCA 2nd Sem), Akashdeep (BCA 2nd Sem) and Ankush(BCA 2nd Sem).

At the end, the HOD and the staff members of Computer Science department distributed prizes to winners. The Principal of Baba Farid College expressed his deepest appreciations and congratulations on putting up such a good show and also acknowledged the efforts made by computer science department of Baba Farid College.

"Tech-Ingenious" Competition

"Baba Farid Society of Computer Science"  organized a Competition " TECH-INGENIOUS" for the students of Computer Science, B.Sc. (CS, NM, MC, CSM), BA and Computer Application students of BFSSS on dated 8th Feb,2018.The various activities like IT Presentations, IT Ad-Mad Show, IT Rangoli and Making IT Selfie-Stand were organized.

This competition aims to kindle interest among students to further explore and analyze some of the emerging issues in the field of computer science, especially for information technology. This contest encouraged the students to independently examine their presentation skills through various events. Different departments put their best foot forward by participating with great enthusiasm.

The event was an opportunity for the students to unite their knowledge with their creative streak and express their views using the colors of imagination. The recent innovations in technology were artistically presented through and captured in these events. The artistic endeavor of the students was highly praised and encouraged by the dignitaries and guests. In this competition, the students tried to prove their talent in the best possible way.

The first position in IT presentation was secured by Neelkanth(B.Sc.CS  4th sem) and second position got by Aman and Ritesh Pathak  students of BCA 2nd Semester.

In IT Rangloli, the first prize won by Aks Monga (BCA 2nd Sem) and second prize got by Parminder Kaur(B.Sc. NM) .One consolation prize in rangloli competition was given to  Maninder ,student of Baba  Farid Sen. Sec. School.

A team of Jaspreet Kaur and Amandeep Kaur, students of BCA 6th Semester won the competition of IT Ad-mad show.

Akshay Singla (BCA 6th Semester) got first position in IT Selfie stand and second position got by Nitika, student of BA.

The Principal distributed prizes and certificates to winners .He expressed his deepest appreciations and congratulations on putting up such a good show and also acknowledged the efforts made by computer science department of Baba Farid College.

Programming Skills competition

"Code Geas Club" organized a competition on "Programming skills" on 4th Oct,2017 for the students of BCA,B.Sc(CS), B.Sc.(CSM),PGDCA and M.Sc.(IT).In this competition,12 students from BCA and 2 students from M.Sc.(IT) became winners.

Fresher Party "MAS FRESCO" on 7th Sept, 2017

The department of Computer Science, Baba Farid College organized a fresher party "MAS FRESCO" on 7th Sept,2017. All the activities were organized and managed by students of computer science under the guidance of staff members. Jovial smiles and high spirits marked the welcome party for the students of first year. After the Tilak Ceremony in which the students of BCA-3rd Sem welcomed the fresher's with respect & love, the party began with a blast of music. Joy and happiness could be seen in students of each and every course in the department. They were having the time of their lives. Inquisitive about campus life and conscious of the latest fashion trends, the freshers dressed their best. The party scripts the beginning of hard work & fun the students would be paging through for the coming years at the college. Various activities like group dance, solo dance, jokes and skits were performed. Attention of the audience was fully captured by anchors of the party. Chandandeep Kaur and Navkiran Singh were declared Miss Fresher and Mr. Fresher respectively. While the title of Ms. Charming and Mr. Handsome were bagged by Kamalpreet Kaur and Mr. Amanjot Singh respectively.

Fresher Party of Computer Science Department "Fresher Fiesta"

The Department of Computer Science organized a Fresher's Party on (29th Aug 2016) for the fresher students. The purpose of Fresher party was to welcome newcomers in a friendly atmosphere and to avoid social evils, encourage their creative impulses to boost their confidence. All the arrangements and activities were organized by the students of BCA 3rd sem and M.Sc-IT 3rd sem  themselves under supervision of Staff Members. The Guest of honor were Mr.  Amitoz Singh Dhaliwal(Executive Assistant to Chairman), Dr. Pardeep Kaura(Deputy Director Academics), Dr. B.D Sharma (Deputy Director Activities), Mr. Harpal Singh Sandhu(Deputy Director Facility),Mrs. Ranbir Kaur(Dean Student Welfare), Mr. Manish Bansal(Vice Principal BFC).

The Party start with the Tilak Ceremony in which the students of BCA-3rd sem welcomed the fresher's with respect & love. Various activities performed by students were group dance, solo dance, western dance etc. Students of class BCA-3rd sem entertained audience with their jokes and skits. Attention of the audience was fully captured by anchors of the party. Students also participated in various games.  Modelling were being judged by juries. After modelling and questioning round, Miss Ramandeep kaur of PGDCA and Mr. Lovepreet singh of BCA 1st sem were selected as Miss and Mr. Fresher and Mr. Amandeep singh of BCA 1st sem was selected as Mr. Handsome and Miss Simran Khurmi of M Sc.IT 1st sem was selected as Miss. Charming.

At last Bhangra performed by the students of BCA 2nd year. Everybody enjoyed the function. In the end the students enjoyed the DJ dance. This whole function was a memorable event.

Fine Arts Competition organized by Computer Science Dept. on 19 Aug 2016

A Fine Arts Competition was organized by the Department of Computer Science, Baba Farid College on 19 August 2016 for the students of BCA, Msc-IT and PGDCA in Block–C (Room no 19 Top Floor) at 12:30 pm. Approximate 25 students  participated in this competition. The various items of this competition were Rangoli, Cartooning, Painting and Collage Making etc. These types of activities are fruitful for today's generation. Farewell Party Hasta la Vista on 12-5-2016

The Department of Computer Science organized a farewell party Hasta la Vista 2016 for the outgoing students of BCA III year, PGDCA and M.Sc-(IT) II year on 12-05-2016 in Main Seminar Hall. Around 240 students were present on this occasion.

The event commenced with the Tilak Ceremony in which the students of BCA-II year welcomed their seniors with respect & love. Various activities performed by students were group dance, solo dance, western dance etc. Students of class BCA-II year entertained audience with their jokes and skits. Various activities performed in party were being judged by juries. Attention of the audience was fully captured by anchors of the party. Students also participated in various games. All higher authorities become part of the party. After modelling and questioning round, Miss Jyoti Kapoor and Mr. Gourav kumar were selected as Miss and Mr. Farewell from BCA-III year and Mr. Manpreet singh was selected as Mr. Handsome from BCA-III year and Miss Jaspreet kaur was selected as Miss. Charming from M.Sc-IT-II year.

Finally the program ended with an open dance, leaving behind sweet memories that will be cherished lifelong. All the students enjoyed a lot in the party.

Cricket Match Organized by "Computer Science Department" Dated on 17 Feb. 2016

One day Cricket match was organized by Computer Science Department of Baba Farid College on 17th Feb 2016 for both graduation and post graduation students. The matches were played between 12 teams.
The matches were conducted at two levels:

  • Semi finals
  • Finals

The final match was played between BCA 4th sem section-C and Msc-IT 4th sem students in which the students of BCA 4th sem section-C won the match. Mr. Kamalveer singh was declared as a man of the match. In the end Dr. Pardeep Kaura (Deputy Director Academics) and Mrs. Ranbir Kaur Brar(Dean student welfare, BFC) owned the winner team.

Kite Making Competition on (10-February-2016)"

A Kite Making Competition was organized by the Department of Computer Science, Baba Farid College on 10th Fed 2016 for the students of BCA, M.Sc-IT and PGDCA in Block-C at 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM. The competition was based on Topic "Vasant Panchami". As we know that vasant panchami is one of the most important festivals related to seasons of India. Folk Fest organized by Computer Science Dept. on 22 Jan 2016

A Folk Fest was organized by the Department of Computer Science, Baba Farid College on 22th Jan 2016 for the students of BCA in Block–C lawn at 1:00 pm. Approximate 25 students of BCA participated in this folk fest. The various items of this fest were Pakhi Bunna, Khiddo Bunna, Pirhi Bunna, Mitti de Khidone etc. These types of activities are fruitful for today's generation to keep in touch with traditional folk. Quiz Competition organized by Computer Science Department on 21st Sep 2015

A Quiz competition was organized by the Department of Computer Science, Baba Farid College on 21st September 2015 for the students of BCA-1 year in Mini Seminar Hall of Block-C at 2:00 pm. All the students of BCA 1 year reached the mini seminar hall at 1:40 pm. Quiz competition was based on topic C language. Students were divided into three teams having named Sergey Brin, John Mauchly, Andy Rubin. There were total 3 rounds. First round contained basic questions from C language, Second round contained all programming questions meaning coding round and last round was a Buzzer round. There was healthy discussion between students during this. Most of the staff member attended the quiz competition. Students got a lot of useful information from this competition.

Fresher Party of Computer Science Department "Esperanza 2015"

Baba Farid Group of Institute, Department of the Computer Science organized a Fresher's Party on (2nd Sep 2015) for the fresher students. All the arrangements and activities were organized by the students of BCA 2 and Msc-IT 2 year themselves under supervision of Staff Members. The Guest of honor were Dr. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal(Chairman), Dr. Pardeep Kaura(Deputy Director Academics), Dr. B.D Sharma (Deputy Director Activities), Mr. Harpal Singh Sandhu(Deputy Director Facility),Mrs. Ranbir Kaur(Dean Student Welfare), Mr. Manish Bansal(Vice Principal BFC).

The Program was inaugurated by the students of BCA 2 year with warm welcome of Freshers. The event was started by seniors Amardeep singh ,Harneet singh, and Shehbaj singh (BCA 2nd yr)by welcoming the freshers to Esperanza 2015, full of fun and entertainment. The first item was a Solo dance perform by Gurvinder kaur of (BCA 2nd yr). This was then followed by wrap song sung by Lovepreet singh of (BCA 1 year). There were number of performances, games played by the juniors in which students of 1st year took participate very enthusiatically. The event of the day was the Mr. and Ms. Fresher competition. All the participants were well dressed and walked the ramp in their own style. The participants, who had been selected in the first round had to enter the second round, where the participants had to entertain the audience for 60 seconds. The last round of the competition was the question answer round where the selected participants had to answer the questions asked by the judges. The judges of this competition were Ms. Veerpal kaur, Ms. Sukjinder kaur and Ms. Kanwaldeep kaur from computer science department.

Mr. Abhijeet Masson of BCA-Ist yr (Sec-B) was adjudged as the "Mr. Fresher", on the other side Miss. Kirandeep Kaur of Msc-IT 1st yr won the title of "Miss Fresher". At last Bhangra perform by the students of BCA 2nd year. Everybody enjoyed the function very much and Dr. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal blessed the students with his precious wishes and appreciated the whole function. In the end the students enjoyed the DJ dance. This whole function was a memorable event.

Farewell Party 'Adieu 2015'

The Department of Computer Science organized a farewell party Adieu 2015 for the students of BCA III year, PGDCA and Msc-(IT) II year on 01-05-2015 in Main Seminar Hall. Around 300 students were present on this occasion.

The event commenced with the Tilak Ceremony in which the students of BCA-II year welcomed their seniors with respect & love. Various activities performed by students were group dance, solo dance, western dance etc. Students of class BCA-II year entertained audience with their jokes and skits. Various activities performed in party were being judged by juries. Attention of the audience was fully captured by anchors of the party. Students and Teachers also participated in various games. All higher authorities become part of the party. After modelling and questioning round, Miss Kanchan Bala and Mr. Baljinder Singh were selected as Miss and Mr. Farewell from BCA-III year and Mr. Akashdeep Sharma and Miss Payal were selected as Mr. & Miss Farewell from Msc-(IT) II year.

Finally the program ended with an open dance, leaving behind sweet memories that will be cherished lifelong. All the students enjoyed a lot in the party.

PPT Competition Organized by Computer Science Department (UG)

A PPT Competition was organized by the Department of Computer Science, Baba Farid College on 12th Feb 2015 for the students of BCA-1 year. A PPT competition was based on Topic "Data Structure and Data Electronics". It was a group activity, in which students participated in a group of two. The First round was completed on 9th Feb 2015 and the second round was on 12th Feb 2015. Most of the Staff member attended the PPT Competition. These types of Competition helps the students in improving their communication skills. The winners of this competition were:

PPT Competition Organized by Computer Science Department (PG)

A PPT Competition was organized by the Department of Computer Science (PG), Baba Farid College on 19th Feb 2015 for the students of Msc-IT I and II year in Mini Seminar Hall of Block-D at 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM. A PPT competition was based on "General IT Related Topics". The participation of the students was remarkable. These types of Competition helps the students in improving their communication skills. The Chief Guest of the competition were Dr. Pardeep Kaura(Deputy Director Academics), Ms. Ranbir Kaur (Dean student Welfare), Mrs. Bhawana Mittal (Dean Placement and Training) , Mr. Navdeep Kochhar (Dean Examination). Dr. Pardeep Kaura(Deputy Director Academics) graced this occasion and motivate the students that these types of activities will help the students in increase their Technical and Soft Skills. Most of the Staff member also attended this PPT Competition. The judgment was done by Mr. Amandeep Singh (HOD, CS) and Mrs. Jaspreet Kaur(Deputy HOD, CS). The winners of this competition were:

Social Event

On 13 Jan 2015 students of BCA final year section-A went to Bathinda for social Event along with Mrs. Sukhjinder kaur and Mr. Ravinder singh. Students distributed Winter clothes, blankets to under privilege people. First students went to railway station in college bus and distributed clothes. Then went to slum area near railway station and after that to Barnala road. Students distributed winter clothes and peanuts on occasion of Lohri.
