A visit to Book Fair Punjabi University, Patiala on 09.12.2021
Department of English, Baba Farid College organized a visit to Book Fair, Punjabi University, Patiala on 09.12.2021for UG & PG programs' students to explore vast area of reading, scholarship and to inculcate the reading habits and critical values of knowledge enhancement.

As many as 50 students visited various book stalls with their professors and bought books as per their preferences. Next, they took part in the ongoing discussions forum titled "Kuj Keha Ta" in the fair whereby they exchanged views with intellectuals in order to gain critical insights into complex social problems and look for suitable measures.

The books arranged on the premises attracted students' at large extent. Everyone was really pleased with the calm and quiet environment. At last, the students clicked pictures with the eminent writers and intellectuals they met during the fair. They were contented with the book fair as it would definitely elevate the knowledge of students in the arena of world literature.

Crossword Quiz Competition on March 09, 2021
Department of English, Baba Farid College, to enhance students' word power through digital apps, organized a Crossword Quiz Competition in Seminar Hall at BFGI campus on March 09, 2021 for all UG & PG students.

The activity started with introduction to the app and instructions by Mr. Bunty Ram, Assistant Professor in English. The students were directed to qualify as many levels as they could during the given time. In total, 25 students took part in the game. All contesteted tried their level best to win the award.

In the end, Ms. Muskaan Arora, another faculty of English, concluded the event and announced the results. Gurpreet Kaur, a student of MA English I, won the award to her credit. Ms. Navninder Dhillon, Dean Faculty of Arts, and Mr. Surinder Chaudhary, HoD English, gave away the prize. Ms. Muskaan Arora, the event coordinator, offered her vote-of-thanks to all.

New Education Policy 2020 on February 05, 2021
Department of English, Baba Farid College, to equip the students with up-to-date knowledge of the new changes proposed by New Education Policy 2020, organized an Online Group Discussion on Microsoft Teams on February 05, 2021 for all PG students.

Ms. Muskaan Arora started the event with the introduction to the special guests. The instructions were given to the students. Each participant was given 5 minutes to share their views regarding the benefits of the NEP 2020. As many as 25 students participated in the activity. Partakers presented their standpoints with the help of screen sharing and full description.

Towards the end, Dr. Amandeep Kaur, HoD Geography, concluded the event and delivered the words of motivation to other contestants. Other faculty members, too, shared their opinion regaring the changes introduced in NEP 2020. Ms. Navninder Dhillon, Dean Faculty of Arts, presided over the occasion. Ms. Muskaan Arora, the event coordinator, offered her vote-of-thanks to all.

Online speech event on June 11th, 2020
Department of English, Baba Farid College, in order to widen the perspectives and enhance overall personalities of the students, organized an online speech event on June 11th, 2020 on Microsoft Teams. The theme of the event was "Woman Really a second sex?"

The event took off with the introduction to the jury members and inauguration words of Mr. Bunty Ram, Cultural Coordinator. The instructions were given to the students. Each participant was given 5 minutes to share their views on the topic. As many as 7 students participated in the activity. Partakers turned their camera on and presented their standpoints rationally.

Towards the end, Ms. Amrit Kaur Taggar from the jury members, announced the winners and delivered the words of motivation to other contestents. Ms. Nikita, a student of B.A. IIIrd bagged the first position. Mr. Surinder Chaudhary, Head of the Department, offered his vote-of-thanks to all.

Charles Dickens's birthday on 07.02.2020

Department of English organized a speech event on the eve of Charles Dickens's birthday on 07.02.2020. The students enthusiastically participated and delivered their views on the life of the writer, his works and Victorian era. Special thanks to Dr Deepinder Brar(Dean, Faculty of Arts) for gracing the event with his presence. The students were benefitted as they came to know about Dickens's life history and his novels. Such events really enhance knowledge in true sense.

Fresher's Party for the students of M.A.I (session 2017-19)

Department of English, Punjabi, History, Political Science and Economics (PG) of Baba Farid College jointly organized Fresher's party for the students of M.A.I (session 2016-18) on 16th September, 2017. Students of M.A.I were given a warm welcome by M.A.II and they were enthralled by various cultural performances like singing, dancing etc. M. A Part-I students were made comfortable with the college environment. The students were nominated for prestigious titles, Mr. Gurmeet Singh and Ms. Jagdeep Kaur were selected as Mr. and Ms. Fresher, Mr. Navdeep Singh and Ms. Jasmine Kaur as Mr. Handsome and Ms. Charming, Mr. Lovepreet Singh and Ms. Amandeep Kaur as Mr. and Ms. Talented, Mr. Karan Sidhu and Ms. Kajal Garg as Mr. and Ms. Stylish, Mr. Sandeep Singh and Ms. Manpreet Kaur as Mr. Adorable and Ms. Gorgeous respectively. The occasion was graced by the presence of Dr B.D. Sharma (Deputy Director Activities), Sr. Harpal Singh (Deputy Director Facility Management), Vice Principal Mr. Kulwinder Singh, Ms. Sapna Soni (DSW) and Dr. N. L. Sharma (Professor and Dean, Department of English and Humanities). The presence of the dignitaries filled the party with excitement and enthusiasm. The party was accompanied with delicious snacks and lunch. Finally, the party came to an end with open dance. All really enjoyed a lot and the memories of this grand day will remain ever fresh.

A Visit to Book Fair
Baba Farid College organised a visit to book fair which held at Punjabi University, Patiala on October 4, 2016 in which students of Under Graduate programme as well as Post Graduate programme went. This festival of books was named as Punjab Literature and Culture festival in which books belonging to different genres and languages were kept in apple pie order. A large number of book lovers gathered , bought books and wandered here and there while roaming around in the university. Many students along with faculty explored vivid thematic books and consequently bought a lot of them like The Secret, Numerology, Mysteries of the World, so on and so forth. Moreover, fortunately students met an author who was there with his debut book "Stir my Heart, Still my Soul" which is basically a romantic one . This was a wonderful experience to have interaction with Mr. Parvesh Chandel whose origin is Chandigarh and got educated thoroughly from Punjab University and in a way highly encouraged the students to write something on their own as well. Besides, an outlet on antique items attracted a lot of students and hence bought things like Sand Timer, Direction compass etc.

Freshers Party for the students of M.A.-I (session 2016-18)
Department of English (PG) of Baba Farid College organized Freshers party for the students of M.A.I (session 2016-18) on 29th September, 2016. Students of M.A.I were given a warm welcome by M.A.II and they were enthralled by various cultural performances. M. A Part-I students were made comfortable with the college environment. The students were nominated for prestigious title of Mr. and Ms. Fresher. Finally, Mr. Prince Deep Singh and Ms. Mandeep Kaur were selected as Mr. and Ms. Fresher respectively. The occasion was graced by the presence of Vice Principal Mr. Kulwinder Singh and the Dean Ms. Sapna Soni (DSW). A special song performance by the Vice Principal filled the party with excitement and enthusiasm. The party was accompanied with delicious snacks and lunch. Finally the party came to an end with open dance. All really enjoyed a lot and the memories of this grand day will remain ever fresh.

Farewell party for the students of M.A.-II (session 2014-16)
Department of English (PG) of Baba Farid College organized a farewell party for the students of M.A.II (session 2014-16) on 27th April, 2016. Students of M.A.II were given a warm welcome by M.A.I. and they were enthralled by various cultural performances.

Mrs. Ranbir Kaur Brar, Dean of Student Welfare gave students best wishes and encouraged them for their future aims. After this students participated in modelling and ramp walking activities. Dr. N.L. Sharma put questions to the students in Talent round and encouraged them.

Mr. Kamaljeet Singh became Mr.Farewell and Miss Jashanpreet Kaur became Miss Farewell.Apart from this Mr. Bhawanpreet Singh was selected Mr. Versatile and Miss Rupinder Kaur became Miss Versatile. Mr Navpuneet Singh became Mr. Handsome and Miss Sandeep Kaur became Miss Beautiful. Best student of the year award was given to Miss Priyanka.

Finally the party came to an end with open dance. All really enjoyed a lot and the memories of this grand day will remain ever fresh.
